What a Bob Conaway administration would bring you as residents in the 1st Supervisorial District :

1. A commitment to listening to you by having town hall meetings in every region of the 1st district, creating a Youth & Working Family Council to not only increase youth & working family participation in government and volunteerism in our communities, but to create a forum where the county board of supervisors can hear their concerns, ideas, suggestions. COMMENT: the Youth & Working Family Council will be funded from not the County General Fund, but my salary as a county supervisor

2. Passing an ordinance which will require that Board of Supervisor meetings be held in the High Desert at least one fifth of the time in high school or college gymnasiums so that the potential for increased citizen participation in the 1st District can be realized.

3. Fighting open-air sewage dumping & processing in our desert and introducing an ordinance banning any future open air sewage process facility applications

4. Fight the creation of new stationary sources of pollution to try and get the particulate matter standards in compliance with federal & state law

5. Fight off attempts to strip the protections needed for our election machines and require the Supervisors that frivolously approved suing the Secretary of State to pay back to the County General Fund the legal fees wasted in fighting the protections mandated by the Secretary of State from their own pay

6. Fight the corrupting influence on government by placing limits on the amount of contributions that can be received, prohibiting the use of supervisors' staffs to lobby and work for potential applicants for projects in our county and preventing supervisors from voting on matters where they or their current or former staff members have received political contributions from the businesses with pending permits or applications

7. Quit holding back money that belongs to fire fighting and law enforcement to create fictional reserves

8. Prevent false advertising by County Supervisors or their staffs by making it illegal to use as advertising subject matter, the payment from county funds monies to community groups or organizations who have applied for and have been awarded funding under state propositions or statutory entitlements

9. Protect the right of workers to organize and negotiate through their authorized bargaining representative for better wages and benefits

Who is Bob?

Bob has been married 33 years, is the father of three adult children, a 2 time grandparent, a former 4-H parent, a former soccer and little league coach and referee.

Bob has practiced as a lawyer since 1985 helping small business and consumers in Suervisorial District #1. In addition, Bob has volunteered his time to furthering the administration of justice by serving as Judge Pro Tem in the Victorville and Barstow courthouses, an arbitrator for the San Bernardino Superior Court's judicially ordered arbitration program, a settlement mediator for the San Bernardino Superior Court and a Special Master for the California State Bar.

Bob was elected the Region 11 Director for the California Democratic Party. Bob is also a member of the California Democratic State Central Committee and the Chairman of the Business and Economy Platform Committee for the California Democratic Party, a committee that has generated a platform that has influenced legislative initiatives and ongoing discussions on how to grow living wage jobs in the state. Bob has been elected the Democratic nominee for the United States Congress and the California Assembly.

Bob is an opponent of the County's (and Brad Mitzelfelt's) approval of Nursery Products open air sludge dumping operations in the High Desert and has opposed Pacific Gas & Electric's experimental (and unproven) plans to clean-up a cancer causing chemical (chromium 6) in the ground water of the High Desert by injecting more chemicals into the ground (rather than pulling the water to the surface and treating it as has been done).
